La Asociación de Hipoacúsicos Cochabamba (Ashico) expresó que una de las necesidades de ese segmento en esta pandemia son los “barbijos inclusivos”.
Se trata de cubrebocas que tienen transparencia en la parte de los labios. Los hipoacúsicos utilizan la lectura labial para entender al otro; si no ven la boca, les es difícil comprender lo que una persona les dice.
Si la gente usaría este tipo de cubrebocas en lugares públicos, facilitaría la comunicación a través de la expresión y los gestos.
La hipoacusia es una disminución de la sensibilidad auditiva que afecta al oído. Puede presentarse de manera unilateral, cuando afecta un solo oído, o bilateral, en caso de que afecte ambos. Hay que diferenciarla de la sordera ya que, si bien suelen utilizarse como sinónimos, no son exactamente lo mismo.
SENSIBILIZACIÓN El otorrinolaringólogo de Cochabamba Joaquín Reyes pidió brindar apoyo a este segmento usando barbijos de lectura labial.
Ashico usa las redes sociales para sensibilizar a la población a que use ese tipo de cubrebocas. En su página oficial de Facebook, difunde un video de cómo es el mundo para ellos cuando la gente usa barbijos convencionales.
Esta tendencia de cubrebocas es mundial en solidaridad con la gente que sufre hipoacusia.
